Is a Fourth Generation Houstonian – Great Grandchildren are Seventh 1869

I am a Houstonian and my grandchildren are seventh generation Houstonians dating back all the way to 1869.

Houstonian  My mother’s family moved to Houston in 1869, my grandfather was about 5 years old, and they had a farm on the nice north side of Houston.  Houston was principally a farm and port community; the only port was Buffalo Bayou; but it served Houston well.  They bought 100 acres on the north side of Houston which is now called Lindale Park sub division, it’s in the 5th Ward very close end to Buffalo Bayou and the Wilsons have been in Houston ever since.

“Welcome’s efforts as an entrepreneur have enriched the community, led to better lives for untold numbers of fellow Texans, and inspired generations of admirers and followers to do greater things. My hope is that through reading this book, you will come to know Welcome W. Wilson, Sr., as I have–as a brilliant businessman, a loving family man and a proud Houstonian.”
